The Tres Ríos Ecology Mission |
|
Tres Ríos is where three rivers meet the sea. It is where culture, nature, and experience merge in an award-winning eco-sensitive facility that provides a retreat unlike any other.
The Tres Ríos Ecology Mission is: - To be the leading model for sustainable luxury tourism in the Mexican Caribbean.
- To guarantee the enduring, intelligent and responsible use of the property’s jungle, mangrove, dune and marine ecosystems.
- To guarantee the long-term preservation of the ecosystems’ environmental functions, flora and fauna.
- To provide high-end vacation experiences for the guests of Tres Ríos.
In 2006 SEMARNAT recognized Tres Ríos as a “regional and national model for sustainable tourism development.” The resort was one of only three national tourism projects to receive a unique environmental seal of approval by the highest Mexican environmental authority.
We will continue our commitment to sustainable tourism through a holistic approach toward developing, applying, and promoting “best practices” in sustainable luxury tourism in all of Tres Ríos’ facilities, from initial design to construction and operation.
Here are just a few recent examples of how our promise to ecology manifests itself:
- Between 2004 and 2006, we reforested more than 10,000 m2 (approximately 12,000 yds2) of mangrove, planting more than 50,000 mangrove trees of three varieties.
- The ongoing mangrove clean-up and reforestation program for the Hacienda Tres Ríos Hotel area (scheduled to open Summer 2008) will rehabilitate over 20,000 m2 (14,400 yds2) of Hurricane Wilma-damaged mangroves.
- During 2007 alone, our plant nursery will produce more than 50,000 red wood, white wood, and buttonwood mangrove trees to meet the basic reforestation requirements of the Hacienda Tres Ríos Hotel.
